Carbon Window Film

Carbon in the film instead of dye — a black that keeps its colour, rejects heat and leaves your signals alone.

Carbon film takes its colour from carbon particles built into the film, instead of the organic dye in ordinary tint. Carbon absorbs infrared — the part of sunlight you feel as heat — and, unlike dye, it does not break down in the sun, so the black you drive away with is the black you keep.

It is non-metallic too, so your phone, GPS and keyless entry work exactly as before. Two Spectrum series are built this way — UV 400 and Black — from 26% VLT down to 3%.

CARBON OR NANO CARBON?

Both use carbon instead of dye or metal, so both keep their colour and neither touches your signals. The difference is the size of the carbon particles.

In nano carbon film — Spectrum NEO — the carbon is ground to nanometre scale and spread evenly through the film, which is how NEO reaches 93% infrared rejection. Carbon film uses larger particles: the infrared figures are lower (54–75% across UV 400 and Black), in exchange for a solid black look and, with UV 400, 100% UV rejection.

All carbon films

UV 400 and Black are both carbon films. UV 400 is the sleek black that stops UV outright; Black is the deep, jet black. Pick the look, then compare the heat numbers.

HOW DOES IT LOOK ON MY CAR?

Numbers on a page only go so far. Put each shade on the glass, look at it from both sides, and take the result to an installer.

Performance figures are laboratory values for the film itself; results on your vehicle depend on the glass. Some tint levels are restricted on windshields and front windows — ask a Spectrum installer about the rules where you drive.
