Spectrum in the Media: UV 400, Chip Film and the Ford Partnership

3 min read

What Tempo, GridOto, Antara, SINDOnews, Otodriver, Bisnis.com and detikOto have reported about Spectrum window film: the UV 400 launch, Chip Film technology and the official Ford Nusantara partnership.

Spectrum window film has been sold in Indonesia for more than two decades through CV Agni Sentral Motor in BSD City, Tangerang Selatan — the same company that distributes Iceberg Window Films. Here is what the national and automotive press have reported about the brand, with links to the original articles (all in Indonesian).

2018: Spectrum UV 400 and Chip Film

In May 2018 CV Agni Sentral Motor launched Spectrum UV 400, covered by Tempo.co, GridOto, Antara, SINDOnews and Otodriver. The articles focused on two things.

  • UV rejection measured up to 400 nanometres. Sales Manager Yogi Aditya explained that a "99% UV rejection" figure says little unless you know the wavelength it was measured to. Spectrum UV 400 is rated up to 400 nm, which covers UVA — the long-wave ultraviolet that reaches the deeper layers of the skin and fades interiors.
  • Chip Film instead of dyed film. The colour is already in the plastic pellets the film is made from, rather than being added in a dye bath afterwards. As he put it to Tempo: “Kalau Cip Film ini dari biji plastiknya sudah memiliki warna, jadi tidak ada proses pewarnaan lagi.” (With Chip Film the colour is already in the plastic pellets, so there is no separate dyeing step.) According to the company, this keeps the colour and the heat rejection stable over the life of the film.

The film was launched in black only, in three shades (40, 60 and 80), with a warranty of up to five years covering fading and bubbling. Today's figures for every shade are on the Spectrum UV 400 page and in the performance comparison.

Otodriver also reported the launch prices: Rp 1.5 million for a full set on a small car, Rp 1.8 million for a medium car and Rp 2.2 million for a large or premium car, including a 40% launch discount.

2014: official window film for Ford Nusantara

In August 2014 PT Ford Nusantara chose Spectrum and Iceberg as the official window film fitted to new Ford cars sold at its dealerships in Jakarta, Bekasi, Cibubur and BSD, reported by detikOto and Bisnis.com. The Ford Ranger, Fiesta and EcoSport were to get Spectrum film — Spectrum 30 on the windshield and Spectrum Infinite 60 on the side and rear windows. (We are very pleased to work with PT Ford Nusantara, which has trusted Spectrum and Iceberg as its official window film.)

In the same week he told detikOto that Spectrum had by then been on the Indonesian market for 11 years, and that there were no plans to manufacture the film in Indonesia: production stays in the United States.

Where to get Spectrum film

Spectrum is fitted only by authorised installers, each registering a warranty card you can check online. Find an authorised dealer near you, try every shade on a car in the tint simulator, or contact us.
